Scorching start to June on Wirral as hot weather set to continue


As May came to an end the UK enjoyed the hottest temperatures of the year this Bank Holiday Monday, with Kinloss in northern Scotland hitting 24.6C.

People flocked to beaches to make the most of the weather following the easing of Coronavirus restrictions.

The country has enjoyed two days of warm weather and there’s more glorious weather on the way.

Wirral is forecast to see the mercury hit 25C on Tuesday making it a hot start to June.

Some parts of the UK could see temperatures hit 27 on Wednesday, however, it feel cooler on Wirral.

The Met Office say: “Any early low cloud and fog will soon clear through Tuesday morning, for another fine and dry day with plenty of sunshine. Feeling even warmer than Monday. Maximum temperature 25 °C.”


There could be a thundery breakdown on Thursday as the hot weather comes to a dramatic end.

A forecaster at the Met Office said: “There’s still a lot of uncertainty but with the warm and humid weather we are having we have the key ingredients for thunderstorms.”

Another forecaster added: “Fine and dry for much of Wednesday, with plenty of warm sunshine but breezy. Rain and showers, possibly thundery, later before clearing early Thursday. Sunny spells but cooler by Friday.”
