Rain and hail brings heavy flooding to Wirral

Heavy rain and hail battered Wirral during Tuesday bringing flooding to some areas.

Thunder, lightning, hail and heavy rain was reported through the day.

Roads couldn’t cope with the amount of rain and hail which lead to severe flooding in some areas during Tuesday night.

Borough Road in Birkenhead turned into a river and dramatic video showed cars trying to drive through the flood water.

Sarah White uploaded a video to facebook showing the dramatic scene and said: “Avoid Borough rd it’s majorly flooded”

Showers will die out through the evening but there could be more during Wednesday.

The Met Office say: “Initial scattered showers will die out through the evening.

“Clear skies and light winds overnight allow it to feel cold, with a risk of frost and fog likely to develop in prone areas. Minimum temperature 1 °C.

“Predominantly dry and bright on Wednesday with a small risk of showers through the morning. Winds remain light and feeling cold.”
