Last blue Moon to appear on Halloween for 19 years

Stargazers are in for a spooky treat this Halloween as there will be a full Moon.

The second full Moon of the month will light up the skies on Halloween for the first time since 1974.

Halloween is looking very different this year as trick or treaters have been advised to stay at home and some families are taking careful measures to give out sweets to those that do head out.

While the moon won’t actually look blue, the second full moon in one month is usually referred to as a blue moon and it’ll be the last one for 19 years.

However, with Storm Aiden moving in through the day it will all depend on the weather on your chances of spotting it.

The Met Office say: “This evening will be dry, though it will remain rather windy. Overnight, some rain will move in from the west, turning heavy, especially in the north.

“This will be accompanied by even stronger winds again, especially in coastal areas.”
