Hundreds lined the banks of the Mersey today to wave goodbye to the HMS Liverpool.

The 65,000 tonne warship had been docked in Liverpool for a week with over 13,000 people boarding it to get a close up look.

The huge ship left on Friday to a music farewell with fireworks and a flypast from a F35 fighter jet.

HMS Prince of Wales is one of the most powerful surface warships ever constructed in the UK and one of the largest ships ever built for the Royal Navy.
