This is when Wirral is forecast to see snow tonight

Snow forecast WXCHARTS

Colder air from the north has sent temperatures plummeting this week.

Temperatures during Wednesday will fall to just 4C on Wirral with a feel like temperature of 0C.

During the early hours of Thursday temperatures will fall to freezing and with rain forecast this could mean wintry showers.

Parts of Merseyside have been issued more weather warnings for snow and ice due to the low temperatures.

Although Wirral misses out on the weather warning there is still a chance there is a chance of sleet or snow showers at times during the early hours.

The latest forecast suggests that Wirral will see sleet or snow showers at 7am on Thursday morning when temperatures will be at the coldest.

The Met Office said: “Wintry showers are expected to continue through Wednesday night into Thursday morning, especially over Northern Ireland and western Scotland, before developing more widely across parts of northern England, the north Midlands and north Wales later in the night.

“This will leave surfaces wet, leading to icy stretches developing on untreated surfaces. Showers will fall as a mixture of hail, sleet and snow.

“Some places are likely to see 1-3 cm of snow, mainly above 100 m, with 5-10 cm possible above 400 m.”
