Wirral can expect another three days of strong winds after Storm Ciara passes.

Wirral was issued an Amber weather warning for most of Sunday and the Met Office described it as a risk to life.

National Rail and Merseyrail reduced train services due to speed restrictions across the network.

West Kirby and New Brighton saw waves over top sea defences during the 60 mph winds.

Met Office are predicting that Wirral see winds of over 50mph during Monday, Tuesday and Wedneday, which could see another storm named.

The strongest of winds will hit during the early hours of Tuesday when gusts could hit 60 mph.

The Met Office say: ‘Bright spells, but with plenty of showers, falling as a mixture of rain and hail with snow over hills. Very windy for most, especially around the coast.

“Very windy on Tuesday with showers, wintry in places. Showers and bright spells on Wednesday, winds easing later. Wind and rain clearing to sunny spells and showers on Thursday.”
