Storm Ciara has been named by the Met Office and will bring severe weather to the whole country this weekend.
Wirral has been issued two days of weather warnings on Saturday and Sunday.
Forecasters warn that winds of up to 80 mph will hit, bringing large waves, possible power cuts and delays to transport.
The worst of the winds are expected to hit during Sunday afternoon on Wirral when winds are forecast to hit 60 mph.
Because of this timetables on the Chester & Ellesmere Port lines will change, with some services departing earlier or later.
Merseyrail said: “Planned engineering work on the Southport line will still go ahead, with rail replacement buses running between Sandhills and Formby stations.
“Passengers are advised to check our website or Twitter account @merseyrail before they travel for the latest service updates.
“Those who live near railways lines should ensure trampolines, gazebos or similar items are fixed in place, as they become airborne very easily in strong winds and can end up on the railway resulting in disruption.
“We apologise for any inconvenience these changes may cause.”
