Parts of Merseyside has been placed on a yellow severe weather warning as anywhere across the region could see snow, ice and hail.
Although Wirral misses out on the weather warning, temperatures will still plummet to near freezing, meaning there is still a risk of wintry weather across the area.
Temperatures during the early hours of Tuesday are forecast to fall to near freezing and the areas that do see ice are warned that there could be some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.
The Met Office say: “A mixture of showers and some drier, clearer spells this evening.
“Overnight rain will move across the region, heavy at times and will fall as snow over the higher ground. A cold night with icy patches and windy throughout. Minimum temperature -2 °C.
“Showers of rain, hail and sleet are likely on Monday night and Tuesday morning, leading to a risk of ice on some surfaces as temperatures fall below freezing.
“Some snow is also possible, but mostly restricted to high ground above 200 metres where a few centimetres may settle.”
