Air Ambulance lands on Wirral beach after 81-year-old injured

The Air Ambulance landed on Thurstaton beach on Tuesday after an 81-year-old woman was injured.

Wirral Coastguard team also attended the incident at around 3:10pm on Tuesday, the woman was suffering from a suspected broken femur.

The woman was transferred to Aintree hospital after being treated by paramedics.

Wirral Coastguard said: “The casualty was treated and given pain relief by Paramedics and then placed in the HART Teams Multi-Integrated Body Splint stretcher (MIBS) and then into a Coastguard basket stretcher before being transported closer to the air ambulance by the HART Teams Polaris all terrain vehicle.

“The casualty was then carried by Coastguard Rescue Officers and Paramedics into the air ambulance ready to be transported to Aintree University Hospital.”
