Stargazers will be treated to TWO meteor showers this month, if skies stay clear.
The best meteor shower of the year will be visible towards the middle of the month.
Over 120 meteors an hour can be spotted and will give amateur stargazers their best chance of the year of spotting a meteor.
The Geminid shower will be visible on 13th December.
The Geminid shower is often referred to as the ‘King of Meteor Showers’, because of the amazing show the shower can provide.
A second chance to spot a meteor shower will also take place as Christmas Day approaches.
The Ursids shower will take place on the 21st December.
This shower will be less spectacular than the geminids as only up to 10 meteors an hour can be spotted, so you will need a lot of patience.
The best chances of spotting a meteor shower is if you head away from light pollution, such as the countryside and to look for a clear patch of sky.
