Man pulled from the River Mersey by member of the public

A member of the public was pulled a person from the River Mersey today.

Wirral Coastguard were called to reports of a person in the River Mersey between New Brighton and Egremont at around 3:20pm.

Coastguard teams arrived after the person had been pulled from the water by a quick thinking member of the public.

The person was given first aid by Merseyside Police Officers until the arrival of North West Ambulance Service and then was taken to hospital.
