Merseyside placed on weather warning as 50 mph winds and heavy rain expected

Merseyside can expect 50 mph gusts and heavy rain this week.

Although the region is not on a wind weather warning, the strong winds will make the Tuesday mornings temperatures feel very cold.

The weather will feel closer to 2C due to the winds expected during the morning rush hour.

The Met Office have placed Merseyside on severe weather warnings for heavy rain through Thursday.

Through Thursday there is a risk of flooding and delays to public transport.

The Met Office say: “Periods of rain are expected to become widespread and locally heavy across parts of England and Wales through Thursday.

“Over western areas, particularly the higher ground of Wales, some snow is also likely, with local accumulations of a few cm possible.

“Rainfall totals of 15-30 mm are likely, with some spots, particularly higher ground, seeing isolated totals of 40-60 mm.”
