Hilbre Island will remain shut to the public until at least the weekend due to the instability of the cave.
As the cave poses a risk to the public the Island will be closed until Saturday 31st August.
Visitors have been told to stay away and cordons remain in place, Middle Eye and Little Eye are still accessible.
Wirral Coastguard said: “Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team and Wirral Council have attended Hilbre Island again this morning with Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service who have assessed the fire.
“The fire that was burning within the cave at the North West side of the island is now out however significant public risk still remains due to the instability of the cave and the cliff.
“Based of the severe public risk, Wirral Council have decided that Hilbre Island will remain closed to the public until at least Saturday 31st August 2019.
“Cordons will remain in place throughout the week and we would kindly ask members of the public to not make any attempt to breach cordons.
“The cause of the fire is still under investigation by Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service.
“Middle Eye and Little Eye are fully accessible.”
