Thundery showers to end hot spell of weather on Merseyside

The UK broke records during Bank Holiday weekend as the UK saw it’s hottest late August Bank Holiday ever.

Temperatures soared to 31.6C at Heathrow in London on Sunday.

Merseyside also sweltered in the heat when temperatures hit 29C at midday on Sunday.

Bank Holiday Monday will see another warm day with temperatures at around 25C, but the warm weather isn’t set to last.

As the week progresses the weather will cool down with a return of cloud and rain.

Thundery showers are set to hit the region on Tuesday with BBC weather forecasting thunderstorms from 3pm-8pm.

The rest of the week will see temperatures average around 20C.

The BBC weather forecast says: “Areas of heavy, thundery showers will drift northwards on Tuesday. Rather warm at times, with further thunderstorms possible overnight.

“Less warm on Wednesday, with the thunderstorms fading and some patchy rain possible later.

“Spells of showery rain will spread eastwards on Wednesday but it may remain warm.

“Breezier and cooler on Thursday, but drier with sunny spells.”
