Merseyside basks in the hottest late August Bank Holiday ever

The UK broke records this Bank Holiday weekend as the UK saw it’s hottest late August Bank Holiday ever.

Temperatures soared to 31.6C at Heathrow in London.

The previous record was set in 2001, also at Heathrow, and was 31.5C.

Merseyside also sweltered in the heat when temperatures hit 29C at midday.

Bank Holiday Monday will see another warm day with temperatures at around 25C, but the warm weather isn’t set to last.

As the week progresses the weather will cool down with a return of cloud and rain.

Towards the middle of the week temperatures will average at around 20C.

The Met Office say: “Turning increasingly changeable and cooler from the west. Tuesday is likely to see some heavy showers.

“Wednesday could bring some more persistent rain. Then sunshine and a showers on Thursday.”
