Heatwave set to continue to bake Merseyside through the weekend

The hot weather that has heated up Merseyside today will continue through the weekend.

Warm air has been drawn up from Africa and over continental Europe where France has had it’s hottest day ever.

An incredible 45.1C was recorded which was the hottest Ever, beating temperatures recorded in 2003.

Saturday and Sunday will see the warm weather continue with highs of 26C expected across the region, however, there will be more cloud around on Sunday.

As the new week gets off to a start cooler air will arrive making the weather feel much fresher and dropping temperatures to 20C.

The Met Office said: “Dry, warm and sunny for most on Saturday. Cloudier along the coasts after midday, and a small chance of some thundery downpours developing mid afternoon on wards, mostly for Cumbria.

“Fresher, cloudier and breezy on Sunday and Monday with some showery rain at times. Lighter winds on Tuesday with sunny spells and a few showers.”
