The Met Office has placed Merseyside on a severe weather warning as heavy and persistent rain is expected to batter the region this week.
Merseyside has been warned to expect the severe weather through Wednesday and Thursday.
Forecasters say that the rain could lead to difficult driving conditions, disruption to transport and flooding.
Parts of Merseyside could see over a months worth of rain as 100mm could fall in some areas.
A forecaster at the Met Office said: “Heavy rain is expected to affect the region throughout Wednesday, only slowly easing during Thursday morning.
“Around 20 to 40 mm of rain could widely fall, with 50 to 80 mm possible over high ground and as much as 100 mm in a few locations.”
Parts of the East of the country have been placed on AMBER severe weather warnings as the amount of rain is certain to lead to flooding and could pose a threat to life.
