Dry and sunny weekend ahead after Merseyside is battered by heavy thundery showers

Merseyside was battered by torrential thundery down pours on Friday evening.

Some roads in Liverpool turned into rivers as drains couldn’t cope with the amount of rain that was falling.

There was also a few dramatic flashes of lightning and rumbles of thunder too as the heavy bursts of rain hit.

However, the weather is set to improve this weekend as the latest predictions show it staying dry and sunny.

Forecasters say it will feel warmer as we head into Monday as temperatures will reach 17C.

The Met Office say: “It will be dry for many today, with sunny spells and just a few showers. Showers are most likely across eastern areas and could be occasionally heavy.

“Feeling pleasant in the sunshine, with light winds.

“After a chilly start on Sunday, it will be a fine day with plenty of sunshine.

“Some cloud will bubble up in the east, though it will stay dry. Feeling warmer. Maximum temperature 17 °C.”
