Colder air to drop temperatures by 12C and there’s storms on the way for Merseyside

It has been a very warm Easter with temperatures well above the average for the time of year.

Beaches and parks across Merseyside were packed over the easter break as temperatures soared to 26C.

The Met Office expect that the warm weather will come to a dramatic thundery breakdown.

There’s a risk of thunderstorms and the return of rain through Wednesday and Thursday.

Yellow severe weather warnings have been issued through Wednesday afternoon until 9pm.

There will be a huge change in the weather as the weekend approaches, meaning replacing the shorts with the coats.

Temperatures will drop by 12C by the weekend as the warm weather is replaced by colder air.

Saturday will see the coldest of the weather when temperatures will only mange to reach 10C with rain in some places of Merseyside.

The Met Office say Wednesday will be “Dry and sunny through the morning, however cloud will thicken with heavy and thundery showers breaking out through the afternoon.

“These will slowly move northwards. Still warm for most. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

“Unsettled with further heavy and thundery showers likely on Thursday and Friday.

“Windier on Saturday with coastal gales possible, with some heavy rain. Feeling much fresher for all.”
