Dramatic video shows people being rescued during West Kirby RNLI’s biggest ever incidents

This video shows the moment people were rescued during West Kirby RNLI’s biggest ever rescues.

A total of 27 people were rescued off Hilbre Island which included 18 adults, 9 children and two dogs.

West Kirby Lifeboat made multiple trips to Little Eye, Middle Eye and Hilbre Island to rescue people who were completely unaware of the incoming tide.

Some of the casualties had entered the water and were exceptionally cold and wet but did not need hospital treatment.

This number of casualties is unusual for the team and is a record for West Kirby Lifeboat.

Today’s tide was extremely high and cut off all 3 islands and completely covered the walkway around the marine lake.

West Kirby RNLI said on facebook: “West Kirby Lifeboat has just rescued 27 people (and two of our canine friends) off the three Islands!

“This is the most we have ever saved in one go. Great work from the Crew, Coast Guard, Paramedics and Ambulance Crews, a serious team effort!”
