Merseyside enjoyed its warmest day of the year so far as temperatures reached 15.6C.

The weather is much milder than what is usual for the time of the year, due to high pressure allowing winds from southern Europe to heat up the country.

The Met Office confirmed that 21 weather stations across the country broke their all time temperature records for February.

And there’s good news, the milder than usual weather is set to continue through the weekend on Merseyside.

The Met Office say: “Remaining mostly dry throughout with spells of sunshine and patchy fog overnight. Breezy on Saturday, but winds becoming light thereafter.

“Generally remaining very mild, especially on Monday, but chilly overnight.”
