The biggest and brightest supermoon of the year will be visible tonight

Tonight’s supermoon will be the biggest and brightest of the year.

The moon will appear 14% larger and 30% brighter than usual.

The moon is usually about 238,000 miles away from Earth. But because its orbit isn’t a perfect circle, it sometimes gets much closer.

Tonight it will be a mere 222,135 miles away from the Earth and will be 14% bigger and 30% brighter than usual.

The closest the moon has come to Earth since January 26, 1948 was back in November 2018.

And the next time it’ll get that close will be on November 25, 2034.
