Merseyside could see it’s first significant snowfall as Arctic air puts the region in the freezer.
MeteoGroup who provide weather for the BBC indicate that the snow could arrive on Merseyside during next week.
Their forecast say that Merseyside will see snow during Tuesday and Wednesday morning.
The Met Office also warn that there is ‘an increased risk’ of snow to lower levels next week.
A forecaster at the Met Office said: “Cold but changeable conditions will be in place at the start of the extended outlook with spells of strong winds and rain, turning to snow at times.
“Overnight frosts are likely and snow, mainly over higher ground in the north, but with an increased risk to lower levels.”
Last year saw the beast from the east bring heavy snow to large parts of the UK and forecasters are warning that it could happen again as the month goes on.
Meteogroup are also forecasting an increasing chance of wintry weather at the start of February.
Merseyside was placed on severe weather warnings for ICE during Wednesday night.
