Temperatures to drop below ZERO as winter firms its grip

The milder air that has been above the UK since the start of the year is set to be replaced by much colder air this week.

This means temperatures will take a tumble on Merseyside and during the day they won’t reach much above 5C.

During the nighttime temperatures will dip below freezing by midweek.

Winds will be gusting at 40 mph during the early hours of Thursday, making temperatures feel closer to -5C.

The Met Office say: “Frost and icy patches Thursday morning, perhaps with wintry showers, and staying cold but sunny.

“Dry but cold into the weekend. A cloudier day Saturday, with patchy rain and sleet.”
