Strong winds to hit Merseyside this weekend as 50 mph gusts forecast

Strong winds are set to hit Merseyside as 50 mph winds have been forecast to batter the region right through the weekend.

Saturday will see winds gust at over 40 mph but it’s Sunday that will see the strongest of winds.

On Sunday wind speeds will be around 50 mph which could lead to choppy seas and feeling chilly at the coast.

There is some good news though, temperatures will be rather mild for the year with highs of 11C forecast.

The Met Office say: “It’ll be a damp start for many and while a few brighter spells are possible during the morning, more persistent outbreaks of rain return during the afternoon. Remaining windy throughout.”

“Sunday will remain windy, but will turn dry and bright later.

“Colder with winds easing on Monday then turning cloudier later with more patchy rain and stronger winds by Tuesday.”
