As the clock strikes 12 and we celebrate the arrival of 2019 the weather is expected to be rather mild.
Temperatures will be into double figures at 10C and with the weather remaining dry it will be perfect conditions for those wanting to set off fireworks.
The weather will remain dry through New Years day too and there will be plenty of sunny spells.
The Met Office say: “Mostly dry and cloudy on New Year’s Eve, although the odd spot of drizzle is possible. Winds freshening later.
“Settled into the New Year with brighter conditions spreading from the northeast.
“Becoming colder with overnight frosts and some slow clearing freezing fog patches possible.”
Temperatures will fall slightly towards the end of the week as colder air moves its way in and forecasters expect snow could be on the way towards the end of January.
More on that snow story can be read here.
