Strong winds and Arctic Air set to bring freezing weather to Merseyside this week

Temperatures on Merseyside are set to fall this week as Arctic air arrives from the north.

The week will get off to a windy start too, Tuesday is expected to see gusts of over 40 mph.

After a mild weekend the warmer air from Europe will be replaced by chillier air, bringing the first cold snap of Autumn.

By the weekend temperatures will be colder than what we have seen so far this season with lows of just 4C and highs of 9C.

If you are up early during the weekend then you will be greeted with cold mornings with frost.

But the Met Office have confirmed that although there is colder weather on the way, Merseyside won’t see any snow.

The Met Office said: “It will be a bit of a shock to the system because it’s been fairly mild recently and there will be a considerable drop in temperature.”

“Some places will see snow or sleet showers and some won’t,”

“There will be no snow further south, but there will be a noticeable drop in temperature – perhaps as low as 8C or 9C – a big drop considering temperatures were as high as 21C in parts of the south over the weekend.

“Temperatures will be below average – going from above average at the moment.”
