Autumn Sunrise – Sefik Akkurt

An equinox is an astronomical event in which the plane of Earth’s equator passes through the centre of the Sun.

On an equinox, day and night are of approximately equal duration all over the planet – a day and night of roughly 12 hours each.

Today’s equinox marks the start of Autumn after which nights start to get longer than days, until the spring equinox next year.

Temperatures will also gradually begin to drop as winter edges nearer.

The next equinox when days will start to get longer again will be on the 20th March 2019.
