The remnants of sub-tropical storm Ernesto will hit Merseyside this weekend


The remnants of sub-tropical storm Ernesto will hit the UK this weekend, bringing heavy rain and gusty winds.

As storm Ernesto approaches the UK, it will loose intensity and won’t bring any damaging winds enough to trigger weather warnings, however winds will still be gusty.

The main impact of the storm will rain, heavy rain is set to batter the UK during Saturday night into the early hours of Sunday.

A spokesperson for The Weather Channel said: “Ernesto will move into cooler waters in the next 24 hours and transition into a post-tropical system.

“It will then will be picked up by mid-latitude westerlies and arrive over the UK late on Saturday.”

Current Met Office forecasts suggest that Merseyside will see the heaviest of the rain during Sunday morning with winds picking up to around 30mph.

The Met Office says: “Often rather cloudy and sometimes windy, with some patchy rain.

“Heavier rain is likely for a time on Sunday morning. Feeling warm and fairly humid in any brighter spells”.
