This is when Merseyside is expecting thunderstorms


It was another warm day across the UK and Merseyside as the heat from Europe continued to bake the country.

However, cooler air will settle in over the country by the weekend, bringing fresher winds and thunderstorms.

Temperatures will be down to 16C through the weekend according to the Met Office.

When will it thunder ?

Heavy showers are expected throughout the weekend, but forecasters expect that there’s a risk of storms through Saturday.

The Met Office expect that there is a 70% chance of thundery showers at 4pm on Saturday.

Winds will also get strong in places, especially at coastal areas on Merseyside.

Gusts of 45mph will batter some areas, which could lead to some flooding.

Parts of the South are on a severe weather warning for strong winds, where winds could reach over 50mph.

A spokesperson at the Met Office said: “A band of showery rain will move northeastwards during Saturday morning, locally heavy in places.

“Sunny spells and scattered showers will follow for the afternoon. Feeling fresher than of late.

“Very unsettled on Sunday, with wet and windy weather sweeping across all parts.

“Sunny spells and showers on Monday and Tuesday. It will be much fresher than of late”.
