Wirral coastguard and West Kirby RNLI were called to Thursaston beach to reports that three people were in the water with a distressed horse on Saturday morning.
Two of the stranded people managed to get out of the water by themselves.
However, the horse and the third person needed escorting onto the beach by RNLI teams.

The horse was found to have minor injuries with a few cuts to it’s leg, so first aid treatment was given to the horse by a member of the crew with equestrian experience.
Dave Henshaw, RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager for West Kirby’s RNLI Lifeboat, said: “Even when you think you know the tides nature always has a way to surprise you.
“Please study the local terrain before venturing out.”
