This is when Merseyside is expected to be hit by severe thunderstorms

The Met Office has issued Merseyside a yellow severe weather warning for heavy rain.

There’s a risk of some localised flooding where the heavy downpours occur, which could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

 When will the thunderstorms hit ?

The warning has been issued as the Met Office expects that thundery downpours will affect the region through Sunday and into the early hours of Monday.

The weather warning is in place from 12am Sunday to 6am Monday.

Severe storms hit London overnight last night and are continuing to hit North Wales today.

There is a risk of Merseyside being hit by heavy thundery showers even before the warning starts.

The Met Office say: “Mostly dry with some sunshine this morning but a few heavy thunderstorms may develop this afternoon, especially across the south of the region.

“Feeling very warm with light winds. Maximum temperature 27 °C”.
