A Wirral beach that was awarded a blue flag award last year has missed out on the award for this season.
Last year the Marine Conservation Society found the beach at Harrison Drive in Wallasey was found to have some of the cleanest waters in Europe.
However, this year the beach did not make the cut, with Blackpool being the only beach in the north west to have received the award.

To receive a blue flag award Beaches must have been found to cover a number of criteria, such as environmental education and information, water quality, environmental management, plus safety and services.
In 2017 the award read: “Wallasey beach situated at Harrison Drive is listed as ‘recommended’, in the Marine Conservation Society’s Good Beach Guide, the guide’s highest accolade.
“The bathing water is rated as excellent meeting the highest European standard for water quality”.
