After the big freeze during the start of the month the theme will change to a very unsettled but milder period, with heavy rain moving northwards across much of the UK.
Towards the middle of the month it will remain unsettled, with further spells of rain, heavy at times, but interspersed with brighter and showery interludes.
It will feel cold at times through March, but there will be milder spells of weather at times, making the big freeze feel a thing of the past.
By this weekend temperatures could be hitting 13C in some places on Merseyside meaning zero chances of snow anytime soon.

Towards the end of March there is a further risk of more unsettled and milder weather, as westerly or southwesterly winds return.
This is likely to bring wetter and stormier conditions, which could even lead to a named storm.
Temperatures will generally be around the average for the end of March, the Met Office say that drier, colder and more blocked conditions could still make an appearance at times as we head into April.
