This amazing footage shows the River Mersey appearing to turn to ICE as waves crash on the shore.
The footage was captured by Joe Leech on Thursday from the Wirral side of the Mersey near New Ferry and shows just how cold temperatures were.
Daytime temperatures remained well below freezing through Thursday across Merseyside as the beast from the east gripped Merseyside.
The beach at West Kirby also appeared to partially froze as this twitter user sent us a photo of a very confused dog.

The freezing weather caused problems on the travel network as Merseyrail announced a reduced service as their trains started to freeze in the harsh conditions.
Temperatures hovered at around -2C for much of the day as the region was blasted with strong winds, snow and ICE.
Arrowe Park Hospital on the Wirral was forced to declare an emergency as ICy conditions lead to a huge water leak on the third floor.
The Met Office also issued Merseyside further weather warnings for wind through Friday morning as the forecaster warned of 70mph winds.

A forecaster at the Met Office said: “Very strong easterly winds will affect high ground in Northern England and Wales, with some powerful gusts also at lower levels to the west of the hills.
“Gusts of 60-70 mph are possible and locally 80 mph over high ground, which will affect cross Pennine roads and some coastal routes in west and northwest Wales”.
