What a difference a week makes, last weekend was the warmest of the year so far, but this weekend is set to be very different.

Polar air replaced the milder weather this week, bringing colder temperatures, hail and rain. And this theme is set to continue into the weekend.

Temperatures wont climb above 5C all weekend and gusty winds will make the weather feel below 0C, the wind chill will result in the actual feel of the weather being closer to -1C.

There’s a chance of a wintry shower shower too on Saturday as a weather front arrives over the country.

However, Sunday is expected to be mostly dry with a chance of some brighter spells at times, although it will still feel very cold throughout the day.

Next weeks weather will bring a real risk of snow and ICE, as the region is put in the freezer.

The Met Office warn that temperatures could dip even further as even colder air rushes in over the country, this could mean daytime temperatures of 0C and nightly lows well below freezing.

This could well result in weather warnings being issued early next week.

The Met Office say: “Patchy rain is likely on Saturday morning, turning to snow over the Pennines and the Lake District Mountains. The rain and snow will probably ease during the afternoon.

“Sunday and Monday are expected to be mostly dry and rather cold. Snow is likely on Tuesday anywhere away from the coast, though how widely it settles is uncertain”.
