Some of these showers could turn to sleet in some areas, as temperatures will still be cold across the area.

Temperatures will be very cold on Saturday night, with the Met Office expecting that the country could see its coldest night of the year so far.

Temperatures could go as low as -13C in Scotland and below freezing on Merseyside, however, temps will recover back into double figures during the early hours of Monday.

The week will get off to a milder start thanks to the rise in temperatures, the Met Office have said:

“Sunday wet and windy with risk of snow on high ground. Monday perhaps some rain in the south, brighter further north.

“Tuesday windy with some rain possible. Turning milder”.
