The first full moon of 2018, also known as the wolf moon, will be the one and only full moon to coincide with a supermoon.
This means that the first full moon of 2018 will be the biggest and there’s a good chance of spotting it tonight on Merseysdie.
The clearest of the weather is expected as midnight approaches, which means we should get a good look at the moon.
As we tweet at 5pm on #NewYearsDay, the full moon will be at its closest point to Earth in an orbit, making this the ‘biggest’ full moon of 2018 🌕 The first full moon of the year is often called the Wolf Moon 🐺but in other cultures can be an Old Moon, Ice Moon or Snow Moon ❄️ pic.twitter.com/UZwa76gbWP

The Met Office say: “Apart from a few showers, much of tonight should be largely dry with some clear spells.
“Under the clearer skies it will turn cold with a frost developing for many, and with the odd fog patch possible by morning”.
