Colder polar air set to return to Merseyside by the end of the week

Merseyside got of to a milder start to the week, which is expected to last until Thursday, when temperatures will see highs of 12C.

However, the milder weather isn’t expected to last, as a change in wind direction will bring in colder temperatures.

By the Friday polar air will replace the slightly warmer air from the atlantic, meaning temperatures will be back down to the low single figures.

This will bring back chilly nights and frosty mornings with the risk of a few wintry showers at times.

Daytime temperatures will struggle to reach over 5C and with the gusty winds it feel closer to a bitterly cold -2C.

The Met Office say:” Becoming windy Wednesday with widespread gales and heavy rain moving eastwards.

“Rain will clear early Thursday then turning much colder from the north with blustery, snow showers. Drier on Friday”.
