Temperatures are expected to be very cold this weekend on Merseyside as polar air continues to hold its grip on the UK.
Colder air from the north has sent temperatures plummeting across the region over the last few days.
Temperatures wont climb much above 5C all weekend and nighttime temperatures will dip to below freezing, bringing the risk of frost or ice.
Feeling cold over the weekend, with brisk northwesterly winds. Some sleet & snow likely too, particularly in the northwest. Plenty of sunshine though, just wrap up warm… 🧣🧤🧥☀️ pic.twitter.com/iUVnEBTH5R

There’s also the chance of the appearance of sleet during the early hours of Saturday, as when rain that is forecast hits the cold air, it could turn wintry over some areas.
The cold weather is expected to last into next week and will feel colder due to clear spells, there will be nightly lows of 2C during the start of the week.
