October to get off to a windy start as first week will see unsettled weather on Merseyside

October has arrived and forecasts show that its going to be an unsettled start to the month.

Strong winds are set to hit Merseyside through most of the week, as areas of low pressure arrive over the UK.

The start to the week will see the first deep area of low oressure bring gusts of up to 40mph to Merseyside.

Through most of the week winds are expected to remain over 30mph, which means it won’t be the best of weeks to take a trip to the coast.

Thursday will see the strongest winds, with some places on Merseyside seeing gusts reach near 50mph.

Although the threat of strong winds, a good portion of the week is expected to be dry, with just the odd chance of showers.

The Met Office say: “Monday is windy for all, with gales on exposed western coasts and hills today.

“There will be a mixture of sunny spells and blustery showers moving eastwards through the day.

“Feeling cool, especially in the wind.

“Windy with spells of heavy rain through Wednesday, before the rain clears to sunshine and showers on Thursday.

“Dry and bright with lighter winds on Friday. Feeling cool”.
