Storm Aileen has brought torrential rain to Merseyside overnight and this morning along with gusty winds.

How long will the rain last ?
The rain will be heavy on and off for most of the day as showers from the west pepper the region.
The heaviest of the rain should ease after lunchtime when showers should become lighter, although there could still be some heavier downpours at times in some areas.

Strong winds will also feature with the rain as gusts of 35mph are expected.
The Met Office say: “Very strong winds will continue during rush hour near the Lancashire and Merseyside coast, though winds are slowing down inland, and they will gradually ease everywhere.
“Blustery showers, some heavy and thundery, will come and go all day”.

Thursday and Friday will see further rain with the risk of some thunder, wind and rain will ease by the weekend.
The Met Office forecast reads: “Blustery showers will return on Friday, some with thunder. Winds will ease over the weekend, and showers will become less frequent.
“It will feel warmer in increased sunshine by Sunday”.
