Merseyside set to see stormy conditions this week as strong winds and heavy rain are forecast.

Wet and windy weather is set to batter Merseyside this week, as unsettled weather makes its way over the Altantic towards the UK.

An area of low pressure will arrive bringing cooler temperatures, heavy rain and gusts of near 40mph on Friday.

Temperatures will feel closer to 11C at times during Friday as the cold air travels across the country.

Looking like a wet and windy week ahead. Winds are expected to strengthen as Friday arrives.

The Met Office forecast reads: “Wednesday and Thursday sunshine and showers, with more persistent rain arriving later.

“Friday will be windy with showers, these heavy and perhaps thundery, though some bright spells are possible too”.
