With parts of the US seeing a total solar eclipse on Monday, here’s when the UK will next see a total solar eclipse.
The next solar eclipse will be visible on 23rd September 2090, which will follow a track similar to that of 11 August 1999, but shifted slightly further north and occurring very near sunset.

The eclipse Maximum duration in Cornwall will be 2 minutes and 10 seconds.
It will take place on the same day and month as the eclipse of 23 September 1699.
The next really good solar eclipse before 2090 will be on 12 August 2026, when 96% of the suns light will be blocked.
The last solar eclipse in the UK was in march 2015 when 80% of the sun was blocked, which plunged the UK and Merseyside into darkness.
