Summer is on hold for Merseyside this week as heavy and potentially thundery downpours are expected.

Although there will be some sunshine at times, this will be broken up by sharp heavy showers throughout the week.

These showers could contain hail, thunder and lightning at times, with Tuesday having the biggest risk of seeing the most severe weather.

At some point on everyday of the week, showers are forecast on Merseyside, which is thanks to unsettled weather arriving from the Atlantic.

The Met Office say: “Sunshine and showers will develop again on Tuesday, these slow moving and heavy in places with the risk of hail and thunder.

“Wednesday will start dry before rain and strong winds arrive later. Sunshine and showers on Thursday and Friday, these heavy. Often windy and feeling cool”.
