Wirral coastguard teams were called out to their 100th incident of the year on Wednesday.
Teams received reports of a person stuck in the mud at Egremont Ferry at around 8pm.
Merseyside Police were in contact with the person who was suspected of being stuck in the mud as teams arrived.

Wirral coastguard soon realised that there was nobody actually stuck and it was a false alarm.
Wirral Coastguard facebook page said: “Thank you to the first informant for calling this in as it’s always best to be safe rather than sorry!”
