Dry start to the week won’t last as Merseyside expected to see stronger winds and heavy rain

The week will get off to a bright and dry sunny start, which will be welcome news for those that were caught out during the weekends heavy rain.

Torrential rain caused some flash flooding across Wirral on Sunday morning as the heavens opened over the region.

Parts of Wirral saw roads blocked and garage forecourts flooded due to the volume of water.

However, Monday and Tuesday will see the rain ease and the brighter sunshine return, temperatures will be a warm 20C, so it should feel pleasant in the sunshine.

But the improvement in the weather isn’t set to last, as wetter and windier weather will spread across the UK on Wednesday.

All of Merseyside is expected to see rainfall, which is expected to be heavy at times and last for a good portion of the day.

Winds will be stronger too, with gusts expected of around 30mph, so it may be a day to stay away from the coasts as this is where winds will be strongest.

The Met Office forecast reads: “Becoming windier through the rest of the week with a spell of rain during Wednesday.

“Thursday and Friday will see a mix of sunny spells and blustery showers”.
