After what is expected to be a warm day on Tuesday, with highs of over 25C for Merseyside, the Met Office have warned that severe thunderstorms could break out on Wednesday.
The warmer weather could come to a dramatic end on Wednesday as unsettled weather from the south west will arrive over the region.
The Met Office have issued Merseyside a yellow warning for heavy thundery rain on Wednesday, which is in place until 8pm.
Scattered thunderstorms with locally intense downpours will continue to move north across England and Wales in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Severe storms could affect Merseyside by Wednesday afternoon, although there’s a chance some areas could miss these completely.
Although some places will miss the thunderstorms, there is a chance of some localised flooding with large hail also a risk.

The Met Office say: “Although many places are likely to miss the worst of the rain, intense downpours associated with the thunderstorms may give over 30 mm in an hour very locally and perhaps 50 mm in 2 or 3 hours.
“As is usual in this type of situation there is considerable uncertainty in the areas that are most likely to be affected”.
