Wirral RNLI teams called out to a dramatic boat blaze

Hoylake and West Kirby RNLI teams were called to a vessel on fire off Dee Sailing Club in Thurstaston in the early hours of this morning.

Teams arrived on scene to a vessel well ablaze at 3:43am and conducted a search of the area to ensure there was nobody in the water.

Hoylake RNLI managed to extinguish the vessel fire using the lifeboat’s salvage pump and fire hose.

The boat sank due to the extensive damage caused by the blaze, which turned out to be 20ft fishing boat.

No persons were found and the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
