It’s a record breaking day as UK sees hottest June day in 41 years

Today was the hottest June day in 41 years as a temperature of 34.5C was recorded at Heathrow in London.

The last time a June day saw temperatures that warm was in 1976, when temperatures of 35.9C were recorded.

The summer of 1976 saw temperatures above 32C for two weeks with five days exceeding 35C.

Not only was it the warmest June in 41 years, it was also the longest consecutive warm spell of 30C+ temperatures in over 20 years.

The U.K. Has had five days of 30C temps and the last time the country saw that was in the summer of 1995.

And it looks like that the heatwave is set to come to an end as the Met Office have forecast thundery downpours.

Thursday is set to be a much cooler day as fresher air arrives, tenpetures will drop by as much as over 10C in places.
